We’re delighted to announce today that another of our green energy provision partners has been audited favourably by the Green Deal Installer assessment panel. Green Deal Scheme, which is affiliated with the Polyramek green energy group, is now an officially recognised NICEIC Green Deal Installer of gas domestic boilers.
NICEIC, or the National Inspection Council for Electrical Contracting, launched its certification scheme for Green Deal installers in August 2012. In October 2012, the Green Deal was rolled out nationally by the Government, in preparation for January 2013 when the first Installers were approved and began work.
The Green Deal scheme aims to provide energy efficient technology to properties that could be saving money on their light and heating, by funding eco-friendly improvements. The money saved on future bills because of the improvements is then used to pay back the cost of providing and installing the equipment. For Polyteck’s Green Deal Scheme arm, this means that the installation of eco-friendly gas boilers is paid for by a Green Deal loan provider; the loan provider is then reimbursed through a repayment arrangement with the energy company delivering gas to the improved property.
All Green Deal installations are assessed before project go-ahead, to ensure that the likely savings made by the improvement (in this case installing new boilers) will justify the cost of the loan. The ability of the savings to pay back the loan is contingent on the property’s other attributes remaining the same: for example, that it is used by the same number of occupants, and that it does not develop problems with insulation or glazing.
The benefit to property users is clear. With more efficient heating systems, a householder pays less to get the same warmth; and uses a smaller quantity of energy too. That means making a dent in the energy use of less well-off households, and making a contribution to the most important construction effort of the 21st century – finding ways to keep buildings running without destroying the planet.
Please join us in celebrating the arrival of another green shoot in the Polyteck garden.
