It’s a big news day for Polyteck subsidiary Polyramek Energy, which has just been given Green Deal Provider status by the Green Deal Oversight and Registration Body. This makes Polyteck Building Services one of just 24 companies ratified by the Government to carry out Green Deal projects: and marks the culmination of 6 months of excellent work by the energy arm of the business.
The Green Deal is a Government initiative aimed at bringing energy efficiency to homes and commercial properties throughout the UK. A central “Green Deal bank†releases finance to pay for improvements approved by accredited Green Deal Assessors, whose reports indicate the nature of refurbishments suitable for the property in question.
The finance is then paid back, with interest, through future energy bills.
The energy savings made by the completed works aim to reduce the charges in future bills by an amount equal to, or greater than, the repayments. In many cases, provided the property’s energy use does not change significantly (for example as a consequence of a change in the number of occupants in a home), properties benefiting from a Green Deal plan are expected to be able to clear the cost of their improvements without paying more than they already have been.
Once the finance has been repaid, the cost benefits of improved energy efficiency are passed directly to the property’s occupants.
As a Green Deal Provider, Polyteck Building Services (through Polyramek Energy) is now responsible for developing Green Deal plans from the recommendations of Green Deal Assessors; providing Green Deal finance to customers; and arranging for the installation of the agreed energy efficiency improvements.
We are delighted to join the select group of approved Green Deal Providers, and to be able to have a positive impact on the future energy use of the homes and commercial properties in the capital.
